Satellite Dish Systems - What They Comprise And Who Provides Them

Satellite dish systems are those systems which directly transmit signals to and from thousands of miles away from earth referring to satellites situated in geostationary orbits in the sky. The satellite dish is the parabolic antenna that needs to be mounted firmly on the ground to receive and send signals. The shape of the antenna itself is such that it will reflect the signals accordingly. Satellite dish systems in the United States popularly refer to satellite dishes for radio, television or internet service for that matter.

Dish network and DirecTV are two main players and providers of satellite dish systems for television in the United States. Founded around the same time, the growth trajectory for both these providers has also been somewhat similar. Both Dish network and DirecTV offer services along similar lines. They offer the dish satellite equipments free of cost to all their subscribers and also arrange for free professional and installation services of all the equipments.

All satellite service providers propagate their satellite dish systems online. This not only saves them a lot of expenses incurred due to setting up shop but also allows them to connect well with their customers. As a part of their customer service strategies, these providers have allotted a toll free number whereby their support staffs are available across the States around the clock on toll free numbers. They also have enabled live chats whereby a subscriber can chat and communicate online with the service support staff.

So, what goes into satellite dish systems packages for televisions? One, and the most important, is the dish antenna. This is the parabolic antenna mounted on the terrace to receive and transmit signals with the satellites orbiting in the sky. Next is the receiver that decodes signals encrypted and sent by the dish antenna. The other end of the satellite receiver is connected to the television monitor for displaying the contents transmitted by the receiver. There is a remote control used to control the menus and arrange for all the programming options. All these are connected with each other through coaxial cables which establish connectivity and help the setup.

Another small but important hardware to be set up to get the satellite dish systems going are the network access cards. They are the credit-card like cards which are attached with the satellite receivers. They were mainly introduced in the market as a measure against piracy by these leading satellite television providers. The cards come with a special code encrypted on them, a special key rather. Only after the key is inserted do any of the other equipments of the satellite dish systems start working. They key is meant for decoding the encrypted data that gets transmitted within.

Satellite dish systems always come in packages. As in, they are promoted only as a part of offers from the satellite TV providers. They start with basic packages ranging between twenty and thirty dollars a month and go to as many as a hundred dollars. The rates differ based on the programming options chosen by the subscriber and the equipments required by them. For example, as a part of one promotional offer, a digital video recorder, was offered free of cost to the subscribers if they went in for a particular package. This digital video recorder, abbreviated as the DVR, allowed subscribers to record up to many hours of live television and also replay, rewind or play pictures in slow motion.

A lot goes into the satellite dish systems package. Go and explore and you will find that there is a whole new world waiting for you.
